“Go-along to get-along”

Earmarks are a way for congressmen to insert funding into pet projects for their districts into larger bills.  This is also termed “Pork” by those who oppose such earmarks.

Representative Mike Rogers (R - MI) had the audacity to attempt to strike a $23 million earmark for the National Drug Intelligence Center (no, I haven’t heard of it either), which is located in powerful Rep. Jack Murtha’s (D - PA, pictured above) district.  Murtha retaliated quite openly, and Rogers sought ethics violations.

The two party system is corrupt, and there’s really not a damn thing we can do about it.

Don’t touch the earmarks!
